Nestled in the heart of the once-thriving Fur District, the Subud Chelsea Center is located on West 29th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Walk uptown on 7th Avenue five minutes and you'll find yourself at Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Penn Station, a major subway hub, is also home to the Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit. The Port Authority and Grand Central Station, close but not exactly nearby, provide additional train and bus transportation throughout the region.

Turn downtown on 7th Avenue and you'll pass the Fashion Institute of Technology, where you can continue to Whole Foods for some of the fresh, high-quality food they're known for, or duck into one of dozens of affordable restaurants and delis along the way. If you're driving there are four or five parking lots on our block. If it's a good night's sleep you're wanting, we're right next door to a Holiday Inn Express. Gotta get that package off? The main post office on 8th Avenue, though no longer open all night, has a window open till 10 p.m. In sum, ours is a neighborhood rich in all the resources you and your guests may require. Resources, Parking, Transportation

The Subud Chelsea Center is a wireless hotspot and we are happy to share our connection with tenants. Please ask management for the password.

For photocopies, paper, tape, and ordinary office supplies there's a Staples Copy and Print Shop on the corner of 29th and 7th Ave. (646)473-0336. There's a larger Staples located in Penn Station.

For medicines, batteries, water and drugstore stuff there's a Duane Reade on the corner of 28th and 7th (212) 239-0167, and yet another on the corner of 28th and 8th (212) 255-5025.

There's a Gristedes supermarket on 26th just west of 8th Ave.

There's a Radio Shack on 7th Avenue between 30th and 29th (212) 244-0567.

There's an AT&T Wireless Store at 209 W. 34th St. just west of 7th Ave. (646) 473-0459

There's a Verizon Wireless Store at 134 W. 34th St. (917) 351-8000. In fact, a newer smaller outlet just opened at the corner of 30th and 7th Ave.

The two closest Starbucks are on 7th Ave. One store is between 31st and 30th (212) 967-2041. The other is between 28th and 27th (646) 336-6462.

Parking

The Best News About Parking Is That You May Not Have to Drive Here!
On Street Parking (weekdays)
Unless the word commercial is clearly visible on your license plates you can't legally park on 29th St. Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. If you do have commercial plates, you can park here during those times, provided that you pay at ATM-enabled parking meters on the sidewalk and display proof of payment on your dashboard. This street and others nearby it are heavily worked by writers of expensive parking tickets, and yes, under Mayor Mike, you can be sure your state has a reciprocal agreement with New York.
On Street Parking (eves and weekends)
After 6 p.m. you can park for free Monday through Friday on the north side of 29th Street, assuming you can find a legal spot. After 7 p.m., you can park for free Monday through Friday on the south side of the street, again assuming you can find a legal spot. (Note: if you have to cross 29th Street to enter our building then you're on the north side; if you don't have to cross the street to enter, you're on the south side). Saturdays and Sundays you can park free on either side of the street, again, assuming you can find a legal spot (Note: if you crowd fire hydrants or no parking signs, you almost certainly will be ticketed).
Commercial Parking Lots
There are about half a dozen commercial parking lots on our block. Rates vary from expensive to outrageous. Figure on paying upwards of $15 for the first hour and a little less for each second, third, and fourth hour (and yes parking is taxed). You're in Knicks and Rangers country and these lots rake it in from Madison Square Garden events. If you park early and stay past game time you can expect to pay a premium. Most lots on our block close about the times the games are over. Ask questions and plan accordingly.

Public Transportation

Penn Station

We are three blocks from Penn Station, the busiest transportation hub in the city (7th Ave. between 32-34th St.). Subway lines 1,2,3, and A, C, E stop there. Penn Station, which is owned by Amtrack, also serves the Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit.

Herald Square

A block east of Penn Station is Herald Square. Subway lines N,Q,R,W,B,D,F, and V stop there.

Port Authority and Grand Central Terminal

There's subway and bus transportation from Port Authority and Grand Central Terminals. Find the subways daunting? You're a seven to ten dollar cab fare away from 42nd Street.
